If you still don’t know what’s “effective altruism”, you are lucky. They called it a “philosophy” and even a “social movement”. And it became so popular, mainly in Sillicon Valley, that the richest persons of the world started to believe - and others started to believe them - that it’s simply enough to earn a lot of money and distribute it to “good causes” in an utalitarian manner in order to make the world a better place. Although they preach decentralization (the wet dream of crypto), it was - of course - them (the richest) who in the end decided, in a completely centralized way, who deserved part of the cake. We could have seen a proof of how successful that ideology was in winter 2022 with the crypto-crash when under the mask of “effective altruism” its true core was revealed - ineffective capitalism. Instead of following another wolf in sheep’s clothing, we believe in the construction of insfrastructures of care that don’t sell the hope of saving the world. We’re starting from seemingly small steps and we are walking slow, because - unlike “effective altruism” - we are heading far and really care about the future. To hell with effective altruism!
