1. About this archiveĀ¶
This archive was first created in July 2023 by editorāConstantinos Miltiadis in the context of the inaugural wwwāACADIA Cultural History Fellowship. This archive implements Sandpoints, an open source framework for open and collaborative publishing (see articleāArchive infrastructure).
All content and entries (authors, articles, issues, etc.) were generated computationally, via a parser written in Python. For more information see articleāMaking this archive. To suggest corrections to possible errors see articleāContribute.
All contents of this archive are open access, and all infrastructure and software used in its creation are free and open source.
2. Entries, metadata, and content traversalĀ¶
This archive includes entries for:
issues
(ACADIA publications)articles
(peer reviewed articles published in ACADIA proceedings)contributors
(article authors)editors
(of ACADIA Proceedings)
Furthermore all entries are interlinked:
- Articles are parented under issues.
- Issues are parented under the ACADIA archive.
- Articles are associated with contributors.
- Issues are associated with editors,
- Additionally, backlinks show all mentions of
article
andcontributor
entries in other pages.
All entries are interlinked by association, so one can directly go from an article to any of its authors or its parent publication, and vice versa. Furthermore, keywords are interactive and global. Therefore selecting a keyword will show all entries that feature the same keyword.
2.1. Issue entriesĀ¶
Issue entries concern ACADIA publications (currently these only include proceedings).
Issue editors are listed at the top right corner of the page in ‘editors’.
Articles included in the issue are listed at the top right in ‘has articles’.
Each issue entry includes as keywords the year of publication and the type of publication (at the moment all are acadia-proceedings
).
Furthermore, each issue entry features a table with some key information including a link to the library item associated with the issue, as in the example below (from the 1992 proceedings):
Name | Computer Supported Design in Architecture: Mission, Method, Madness |
Proceedings name | ACADIA Conference Proceedings |
Article count | 19 |
Contributor count | 33 |
Year | 1992 |
Location | Charleston, South Carolina (USA) |
Host | Clemson University |
Dates | N/A |
ISBN | 1-880250-01-2 |
Publisher | N/A |
Library link | Karen M. Kensek & Douglas Noble, 1992. bibāComputer Supported Design in Architecture: Mission, Method, Madness. ACADIA. |
Entry filename | computer-supported-design-in-architecture |
2.2. Article entriesĀ¶
At the top right corner of each article entry ‘contributor’ lists its authors, and ‘in issues’ the issue (publication) that the article is part of. Keywords and abstracts are preserved (where provided). The year of publication was added as a keyword, to allow browsing articles by year. Furthermore, each article features a table with key information, as in the example below:
Year | 2004 |
Authors | Riese, Martin; Simmons, Marc. |
Issue | Fabrication: Examining the Digital Practice of Architecture |
Pages | 28-33 |
Library link | [link to corresponding issue] |
Filename | glass-office-scl-office-showroom-brisbane |
2.3. Contributor entriesĀ¶
Contributor entries feature:
- a list of contributions (sorted by date and prefixed with the year of publication in parentheses);
- a list of co-authors (because of backlink cross-referencing co-authors are also listed at ‘mentioned in’ at the top right corner of a contributor page).
If applicable, contributor entries provide a table with author name aliases (see articleāmaking this archive), as in the example below:
Aliases |
---|
Angulo, Antonieta |
Angulo, A.H. |
Note: Contributor names are sorted by surname.
2.4. Editor entriesĀ¶
Currently editor entries are provisional.
Editor names were matched against author names (and aliases). If editors are also contributors, the editor entry provides a link to the contributor entry.
2.5. KeywordsĀ¶
Article keywords were preserved. Where no keywords were provided the keyword archive-note-no-tags
was added manually.
A handful of papers feature a ‘category’ in the keyword section, which was preserved as keyword with the prefix category
.
Furthermore, the year of publication was added as a keyword, to allow browsing all items from a specific year.
All keywords can be browsed at ākeywords.
2.6. AbstractsĀ¶
Article abstracts were preserved.
Where no abstract was provided the keyword archive-note-no-abstract
was added manually (see ākeywords).
Note: The infrastructure used for this archive allows every page to have an abstract. Currently abstracts are implemented only for article entries. Abstracts are also used in entries about the archive (like the present one), to provide an outline of the entry content.
3. LibraryĀ¶
This archive includes an integrated ālibrary that contains all ACADIA publications (proceedings, quarterlies, etc.) available for download. Access the library through the red icon at the top right corner of each page, or at ālibrary. Links to library items are provided in entries of proceedings issues and articles. See also articleāArchive library.
