Programs as Pencils: Investigating Form Generation (1997)
article⁄Programs as Pencils: Investigating Form Generation (1997)
abstract⁄This paper reviews two projects undertaken in a CADprogramming course that demonstrate to the students howprograms could be developed to investigate possiblearchitectural forms. The projects highlight a very sequentialapproach to form investigation in using both common geometriesand the introduction of randomness to control design rules. Thisapproach stressed the development of rules and evaluating theirresults as a method to determine the next step to investigate.Equal importance was placed on the anticipated, as well as, theunexpected.
