New Methods of Architecture and Building (2004)
article⁄New Methods of Architecture and Building (2004)
abstract⁄Three conditions exist that are likely to lead to significant restructuringof the construction industry. These are 1 the recognition that traditional contracting practices are inefficient and costly to the client, 2 the growing availability of informationrich 3D parametric modeling, and 3 the strong interest in integrating the issues of design and fabrication. Some aspects of these conditions are examined using two examples parametric design and integration in steel structural design, and in fabricationlevel modeling of precast concrete. The implications of these changes are explored.
