What does it mean to make a portrait in a performance art context? What did it mean in 2006 compared to now, 2022? I don’t follow a line. There is no line, and of course that’s a line too. Relationality. What’s my relation to you as an audience? That relation was clear when an audience member was sitting in front of you, looking and listening. Ah ja, that’s the relation. Not doing anything else but being there, looking and listening. How does this work resonate today? For all of us? What is important is what happens in between the portraits. I am more like a mediator. I count on the future.
